A couple of weeks ago, we introduced you to Rodrigo Teixeira, a jiu-jitsu nomad whose journey has taken him across the globe. With over 25 years of experience, Rodrigo has not only mastered the art but also dedicated himself to sharing it with the world.

A 5th-degree black belt under Pedro Carvalho, Rodrigo’s accomplishments include gold at the 2017 IBJJF European Open and double gold at the Rome Open in the Masters division. Over his decades of training, he has rolled with and competed against some of the most iconic figures in the sport. His ability to blend traditional techniques with modern innovations has made him a respected name in the jiu-jitsu community.

Rodrigo’s influence extends far beyond the mats. He spent a significant part of his career in the United States, where he sharpened his competitive edge and developed his coaching skills. In Russia and Singapore, he introduced jiu-jitsu to new audiences, helping to build thriving communities. His time in India was particularly impactful, where he mentored local practitioners and played a key role in advancing the sport, including guiding Arun Sharma, the country’s first native black belt.

Now residing in New Zealand, Rodrigo continues to share his knowledge and passion for jiu-jitsu. On his most recent visit to Jiu-Jitsu Magazine Headquarters, he demonstrated some of his favorite techniques, showcasing his signature style of modernized, practical jiu-jitsu.
