Reunited! No Super Teams Allowed.

If you thought CJI 1 turned the jiu-jitsu world upside down, Craig Jones is making sure CJI 2 builds on that chaos with even more firepower, drama, and big names. In a new video update, Craig confirms what many fans were hoping for: New Wave is officially in. That's right. The same New Wave that skipped the first event is now stepping onto the team mats alongside B-Team in what's shaping up to be the most stacked roster of talent we’ve seen yet.
Craig calls it a ceasefire. A handshake deal for the sake of the sport. After all, CJI 1 blew the doors off what grappling events could be. CJI 2 is where the rebuild begins.
But this event isn’t just about the headliners. It’s about depth, and that’s where the wildcard and Misfit Teams come in. Each team can pull in one wildcard athlete to fill a weight slot they’re missing. That means if your squad is stacked at four divisions but you’re light at 99kg or above, you can recruit someone from outside. But only one. Craig makes it clear. This isn’t a sandbox for rich teams to build juggernauts. No super teams allowed. Just gritty, real squads made up of real competitors.
10th Planet is already in with a blockbuster lineup. New Wave joins the party. And now, we’ve got the Misfits. Originally imagined as a single wildcard team, the Misfits have grown into a three-region operation: the Americas, Europe, and Australasia. Each will field a team of killers who didn’t have a full five-man squad to roll with but absolutely deserve a spot on this stage.
The Australasian Misfits will be led by none other than Lachlan Giles. Craig calls him the greatest jiu-jitsu athlete to come out of Australia and the top-selling BJJ Fanatics instructor in that region. Lachlan is planning trials to earn your place on the squad. No handouts. If you want to represent, you’ll have to earn that jersey.
And yes, there will be jerseys. Official team uniforms. Not just for show, but as a source of pride and a spot for sponsors to get their shine. Merch from the first CJI flew off the shelves. This time around, the gear will be even better, and fans will be able to buy the same kits worn by the athletes.
Craig also shared his strategy around timing. CJI 2 will take place right after Masters Worlds in Las Vegas, where nearly 30,000 jiu-jitsu athletes and fans are expected to be in town. Only 10,000 tickets will be available for the CJI 2 event, and those will move fast. If you’re not on the waitlist, you’re probably not getting in.
As always, Craig teases big super-fight announcements. Including one for himself. He jokes that he only competes at events he runs because everyone else hates him. That might be true, but it also means we’re in for another highly anticipated match.

Whether you're a top-tier competitor hoping for a wildcard slot or a fan looking to lock in tickets, one thing is clear. CJI 2 is going to be another game-changer. LET’S GO!!!
