ICYMI: Lo Beats Erberth Twice in Brazil, Pena Defeats Bahiense in Guam

Wow, what a weekend! The past three days were so filled with action. From Brazil to Guam going through the USA, Jiu-Jitsu had a lot to offer to its fans. Here’s a quick roundup of some of the best action on the mats this weekend.

Leandro Lo beats Erberth Santos twice at the Brazilian Nationals

The IBJJF held its biggest ever event this week in Brazil. The 2017 Brazilian Nationals gathered over 6,000 athletes in Barueri, São Paulo. In the end, Leandro Lo and Tayane Porfírio came out as the big names by winning double gold in the adult black belt division. Tayane beat Luiza Fernandes in the ultraheavy division and then defeated Beatriz Mesquita in the open class. Lo faced Erberth Santos twice and managed to win both times in the superheavy and the absolute. Watch the video with the best moments of both finals.

Pena defeats Bahiense in Guam

The 10th edition of the Marianas Open took place this Sunday, April 30, in the beautiful Island of Guam. Felipe Pena, the 2016 champion went back to the Pacific and successfully defended his title. Pena came straight from Abu Dhabi after the 2017 ADWPJJC to fight four times and finish three of his opponents. First he won the +180lb division. The big final put Pena against upcoming talent Isaque Bahiense, who had won the -180lb division.
