Friday at the 2015 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship once again proved to be another long and exciting day of action. Highlighting the day’s action were the adult purple belt open division. Alliance’s Nicholas Meregali continued his run as the purple belt to watch on the adult men’s side of this year’s tourney. Meregali managed to secure double gold after submitting his fellow Alliance teammate Isaque Bahiense Braz in the final. On the female side, Tayane Porfírio de Araújo (Alliance) was able to use her formidable size to stave off an impressive Bianca Basilio out of Ryan Gracie team to secure her own double gold finish for the day. On the blue belt side, Team Lloy Irvin’s Michelle Welti won the female adult open class division. Other top performers on the day included Danielle Alvarez (Alvarez BJJ), Paulo Gabriel Martins da Costa (Dida Jiujitsu) and a whole host of others. The event now continues on to the main event of the week with brown and black belts set to be featured for the rest of the weekend with both Alliance and the Atos teams having their eye on the overall team title.
